  • Seeded second the pair defeated the third seeds in the semi-final
ECKENTAL, GERMANY – Jonny O’Mara teamed up with Hugo Nys and were seeded second in the ATP Challenger event. The pair made it all the way to the final before ultimately being defeated.

Jonny O’Mara teamed up with Hugo Nys in the ATP Challenger event in Eckental and were seeded second. In the first round they drew Aliaksandr BuryEvgeny Donskoy. The Belarussian/Russian pair stayed toe to toe with the seeds in both sets and forced tiebreaks. However, it was O’Mara & Nys that came through to book a quarter-final spot 7-6(5), 7-6(3).

In the quarter-final the second seeds were up against Purav Raja & Antonio Sancic. The first set was very tight and went to a tiebreak, which O’Mara & Nys lost. However, the seeds fought back in the second set and levelled up after breaking serve. In the ensuing match tiebreak it was the seeds who edged through to book a semi-final spot 6-7(4), 7-5, 10-7.

The semi-final saw O’Mara & Nys up against third seeds Sander ArendsRomain Arneodo. The Dutch/Monegasque pair got off to the better start and broke the serve of O’Mara & Nys taking the first set. However, the second seeds fought back well in the second and came back from 5-1 in the set to level up and force a match tiebreak. The second seeds won the match tiebreak and moved into the final 5-7, 7-5, 13-11.

In the final O’Mara & Nys were against fourth seeds Kevin KrawietzAndreas Mies. The Germans proved too strong for the second seeds. Despite fighting hard it was the Germans who came through in straight sets and ended the great run of O’Mara & Nys.

Jamie Murray with Bruno Soares were defeated by Marcel Granollers & Rajeev Ram in the quarter-final in Paris 6-3, 6-3.

Dom Inglot with Franko Skugor were defeated by Pierre-Hugues Herbert & Nicolas Mahut in the quarter-final in Paris 6-3, 7-5.
