DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Heather Watson entered the ITF event and was the seventh seed. The Brit made the semi-final.
Brit of the Week
Heather Watson entered the ITF event and was the seventh seed. In the first round the Brit was against Wildcard Vera Zvonareva. Watson dominated the first set and eased into the lead. The second set was much closer as Zvonareva tried to mount a fight back. The Wildcard stayed toe to toe with the Brit and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker Watson eased through and took the match in straight sets 6-2, 7-6(4).
The second round saw the Brit against another Wildcard, this time Kristina Mladenovic. The seed dominated the match from the outset as the Frenchwoman struggled to hold serve. Watson strolled through the first set, dropping only one game. The second saw the Brit only lose two games and moved into the next round 6-1, 6-2.
In the quarter-final Watson was against third seed Rebecca Sramkova. The Slovakian struggled in the first set, as the Brit dominated and took the lead. The second set was slightly closer as the third seed tried to fight back. However, Watson managed to break serve again and take the match 6-1, 6-3.
The semi-final saw the Brit against Dutch woman Arianne Hartono. The first set was very close, as neither player gave an inch. Eventually, the set went to a tiebreak, which Watson dominated and took the lead. Hartono fought back in the second set breaking serve to level up the match. The final set was once again very very close and again went to tiebreak. This time Hartono edged through and took the match 6-7(2), 6-3, 7-6(5).

Emily Appleton was defeated by Anastasia Tikhonova in the second round in Dubai 7-6(3), 6-4.
Mingge Xu was defeated by Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the second round in Monastir 6-2, 6-2.
Paul Jubb was defeated by Guy Den Ouden in the semi-final in Monastir 6-4, 6-4.
Jizel Matos Sequeira Fernandes was defeated by Marta Soriano Santiago in the first round in Valencia 6-2, 6-4.
Sarah Tatu was defeated by Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the quarter-final in Valencia 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Ryan Storrie was defeated by Petr Nesterov in the first round in Zahra 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(5).
Felix Mischker was defeated by Sidane Pontjodikromo in the first round in Zahra 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1.
Alastair Gray was defeated by Petr Nesterov in the second round in Zahra 7-6(3), 7-5.
Giles Hussey was defeated by Elgin Khoeblal in the semi-final in Zahra 7-5, 0-6, 7-5.
Fabio Nestola was defeated by Yurii Dzhavakian in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-1, 6-3.
Ben Jones was defeated by Alexandr Binda in the second round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-3, 6-4.
Millen Hurrion was defeated by Yurii Dzhavakian in the quarter-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-0, 6-4.
Katherine Barnes was defeated by Amarissa Toth in the quarter-final in Antalya 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.
Jay Clarke was defeated by Dmitry Popko in the semi-final in Antalya 6-4, 6-1.
