Brit of the Week
Amelia Rajecki entered the ITF event in Santo Domingo and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit drew American wildcard Taylor Marie Gales. The Brit dominated the match from the off, as the American struggled and was unable to hold serve. Rajecki moved into the second round without dropping a game 6-0, 6-0.
The second round saw the Brit against eighth seed Brittany Collens. Rajecki again dominated from the outset and didn’t drop a game in the first set. The second set saw the American hold serve once, before the Brit again kept her foot on the gas to move into the next round 6-0, 6-1.
In the quarter-final Rajecki was against the top seed Jessica Hinojosa Gomez. The Mexican stayed close to the Brit in the first set, but eventually the 20 year old broke serve to take the lead. In the second set Rajecki dominated the top seed and soon moved into the next round 6-3, 6-0.
