HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA – Kristina Paskauskas made the final of the ITF event. The Brit was unseeded and didn’t drop a set en route.

Brit of the Week

Kristina Paskauskas entered the ITF event. In the first round the Brit was against the seventh seed Tenika McGiffin. Paskauskas broke serve of the Australian and took the lead. The second set saw the Brit dominate McGiffin and move into the next round 6-3, 6-0.

The second round saw the Brit against American Alston Myatt. Paskauskas and the American stayed close in the first set. Eventually, the Brit broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw Paskauskas dominate the American and eased through into the next round 6-4, 6-1.

In the quarter-final Paskauskas was against Emily Sartz-Lunde. The Norwegian junior stayed with the Brit in the first set and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit dominated and took the lead. The second set saw Paskauskas break serve and take the match in straight sets 7-6(2), 6-4.

The semi-final saw the Brit against Carly Briggs. The American wildcard stayed close to Paskauskas in the first set. Eventually, the Brit broke serve and took the lead. The second set was even closer. It looked to be heading for a tiebreak, before the Brit broke serve and took the match 6-4, 7-5.

In the final the Brit was against American qualifier Karina Miller. The American dominated Paskauskas in the first set to take the lead. The second set was more of the same and Miller again dominated to lift the title in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

 

 

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Jay Clarke was defeated by Bernard Tomic in the second round in Santo Domingo 7-6(5), 6-3.

Yuriko Lily Miyazaki was defeated by Taylah Preston in the first round in Cary 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4.

Billy Harris was defeated by Christopher Eubanks in the second round in Cary 7-6(5), 6-7(6), 6-2.

Heather Watson was defeated by Lucrezia Stefanini in the second round in Cary 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(3).

Felix Gill was defeated by Cezar Cretu in the second round in Todi 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Charles Broom was defeated by Filip Peliwo in the first round in Grodzisk 6-4, 6-3.

Oscar Weightman was defeated by Marc-Andrea Husler in the second round in Grodzisk 6-2, 6-1.

Nicolas Philibert was defeated by Nicolas Jadoun in the first round in Monastir 6-1, 6-0.

Oliver Tarvet was defeated by Petr Brunclik in the second round 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Amelia Rajecki was defeated by Ankita Raina in the first round in Ourense 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-3.
