Tennis | Challenger & ITF Round Up | Loffhagen makes final of ITF Bodrum

BODRUM, TURKEY – George Loffhagen entered the ITF event and was unseeded. The Brit reached the final of the event, defeating three seeds en route.

Brit of the Week

George Loffhagen entered the ITF event in Bodrum and was unseeded. The Brit was against qualifier Alfred Almasi. The Brit dominated the match from the start. Loffhagen broke easily in both sets and took the match to move into the next round 6-2, 6-2.

In the second round Loffhagen was against the second seed Jules Marie. The Frenchman stayed with the Brit and forced a tiebreak in the first set. In the breaker it was Loffhagen that edged through and took the lead. The second set saw the Brit dominate and move into the next round in straight sets 7-6(6), 6-2.

The quarter-final saw the Brit against fifth seed Vladyslav Orlov. The Ukrainian stayed close to Loffhagen in the first set, before the Brit broke to take the lead. The second set saw the Brit dominate Orlov, who struggled to hold serve. Loffhagen moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

In the semi-final Loffhagen was against the eighth seed Carlos Sanchez Jover. The Spaniard stayed with the Brit in the first set and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the seed edged through and took the lead. The second set saw Loffhagen dominate and level up the match. The final set was once again very close and went to a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit edged through and moved into the next round 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-6(5).

The final saw the Brit against top seed Rudolf Molleker. The German dominated the first set as Loffhagen struggled to get into the match. The second set was much closer though, as the Brit found his game and stayed toe to toe with Molleker. Loffhagen forced a tiebreak. Unfortunately, the top seed managed to ease through and take the title in straight sets 6-1, 7-6(4).

Stuart Parker was defeated by Mats Moraing in the second round in Most 6-3, 6-2.

Zach Stephens was defeated by Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo in the first round in Mataro 6-1, 6-1.

Emma Wilson was defeated by Jade Bornay in the first round in Malaga 6-3, 6-3.

Aryanna Bartlett was defeated by Riya Bhatia in the first round in Malaga 6-2, 7-6(3).

Matilda Mutavdzic was defeated by Mi Tianmi in the quarter-final in Malaga 6-3, 6-2.

Aidan McHugh was defeated by Aidan Mayo in the quarter-final in Tabasco 7-5, 7-6(5).

Ben Jones was defeated by Jaycer Lyeons in the first round in Huntsville 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Blu Baker was defeated by Nidunjianzan Fnu in the quarter-final in Huntsville 0-0 (RET).

Jasmine Conway was defeated by Yassmin Ezzat in the first round in Monastir 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Alisha Reayer was defeated by Maria Vittoria Viviani in the first round in Monastir 7-5, 6-3.

Isabelle Lacy was defeated by Wei Sijia in the first round in Monastir 6-2, 6-3.

Millen Hurrion was defeated by Adrien Gobat in the second round in Monastir 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Sarah Beth Grey was defeated by Adrienn Nagy in the first round in Otocec 6-3, 6-2.

Eden Silva was defeated by Adrienn Nagy in the second round in Otocec 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4.
