Brit of the Week

Jodie Burrage entered the ITF event in Thailand and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit was drawn against Yuan Yue. The first set was very even with both players not wanting to flinch. However, it was Burrage who secured the vital break of serve to move ahead. The Chinese player fought back in the second set to level up the match. In the final set Burrage once again secured the vital break and moved into the next round 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

In the second round the Brit was against Kamonwan Buayam. The Thai player was no match for Burrage, who was on fire and lost little time in taking the game to Buayam. The Brit lost only two games as she stormed to a straight sets win 6-1, 6-1.

The quarter-final saw Burrage up against Nicoleta Dascălu. The Romanian was unable to prevent the Brit from breaking in the first set to take the lead. However,  Dascălu re-grouped in the next set and broke Burrage to level up the match. The Brit was not going to go quietly though and broke in the final set to move into the semi-final 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

In the semi-final Burrage was against the top seed Patricia Maria Țig. The Romanian was in superb form, and broke the Brit at will. Burrage struggled against the top seed and was only able to get two games on the board. Tig went on to take the match 6-1, 6-1.
