Brit of the Week
Jack Draper entered the ITF event in Glasgow and was the second seed. In the first round the Brit was against Karl Friberg. The Swede offered up little resistance to Draper who dominated the first set, and broke early in the second. The Brit moved into the second round in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
The second round saw him up against Gleb Sakharov. The Frenchman had nothing to throw at Draper, who continued from the previous round. The seed dominated the whole match, breaking at will. The seed lost only three games as he moved into the next round 6-1, 6-2.
In the quarter-final Draper was against Wojciech Marek. The Pole was unable to stop the Brit from dominating the first set. The second was a little closer as Marek found his game. Ultimately though, Draper secured the break needed and moved into the semi-final 6-2, 6-4.
The semi-final was an all British affair with Draper up against third seed Evan Hoyt. This was the closest match so far for Draper as Hoyt battled hard to stay in contention. The second seed managed to secure the break of serve in each set to move into the final 6-4, 6-4.
In the final the Brit was against Lucas Poullain. Draper dominated the first set as the Frenchman was unable to hold serve. However, Poullain regrouped and managed to break the Brit at the end of the second set to level up the match. The final set saw the Frenchman get the jump on Draper and break serve to secure the title 0-6, 7-5, 6-3.
