Brit of the Week

Giles Hussey entered the ITF event in Hungary and was the second seed. In the first round, the Brit drew German Niklas Schell. The Brit and German stayed close in the first set before Hussey broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw the seed get the upper hand on Schell, breaking quickly to secure the lead and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

The second round saw Hussey against qualifier Lior Goldenberg. The Israeli was dominated by the Brit in the first set, as Goldenberg struggled to hold serve. The second set was closer as the Israeli found their game. However, Hussey managed to secure the break of serve and move into the next round 6-1, 6-4.

In the quarter-final Hussey was against fifth seed Zura Tkemaladze. The Brit dominated the Georgian in the first set, as Tkemaladze was unable to hold serve. The second set was much closer as the Georgian managed to find their game. Once again though, the Brit was able to make the vital break through and moved into the next round 6-0, 6-4.

The semi-final saw the second seed against fellow Brit Hamish Stewart. The first set was close, as both players stayed toe to toe. Eventually, though, Hussey made the breakthrough and took the lead. The second set was dominated by the seed, who managed to break more or less at will and eased through into the final 6-4, 6-2.

In the final the Brit was against fourth seed Gabriel Decamps. The Brazilian dominated Hussey in the first set to take the lead. The second set saw the Brit re-group and break Decamps to level the match. The final set saw Hussey keep up the pressure and break the Brazilian. Decamps was unable to pull back and Hussey lifted the trophy 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
