Tennis | Challenger & ITF Round Up | Harris makes quarter-final of ATP Rome Challenger

ROME, ITALY – Billy Harris entered the ATP Challenger event in Rome and was unseeded. The Brit made the quarter-final before being defeated.

Brit of the Week

Billy Harris entered the ATP Challenger event and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit was against Adrian Andreev. The Bulgarian got off to the better start and manged to break serve to take the lead. Harris re-grouped in the second set and broke Andreev to level up the match. The final set saw Harris, once again, break serve and take the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In the second round Harris was against fourth seed Jozef Kovalik. The Slovak tried hard to stay with the Brit at the start of the first set. However, the Brit managed to secure the break of serve and move into the lead. The second set was a little closer. Kovalik went toe to toe at the start but Harris managed to break serve again and take the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

The quarter-final saw Harris against eighth seed Hugo Dellien. The Brit was too good for the seed in the first set and dominated to take the lead. The second set saw Dellien re-group and break serve to level up the match. The final set was close, until the Bolivian managed to break serve and take the win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

 

 

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Arthur Fery was defeated by Mark Lajal in the second round in Shenzhen 6-2, 6-2.

Henry Searle was defeated by Calvin Hemery in the first round in Savannah 7-5, 6-4.

Oliver Crawford was defeated by Ethan Quinn in the first round in Savannah 6-2, 6-4.

Yuriko Lily Miyazaki was defeated by Kimberley Birrell in the second round in Tokyo 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Francesca Jones was defeated by Ela Nala Millic in the first round in Santa Margherita di Pula 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Tiffany William was defeated by Carolina Alves in the first round in Mosquera 6-1, 6-0.

Abigail Amos was defeated by June Bjork in the second round in Telde 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-4.

Next Week Brits play in Madrid, Aix-en-Provence, Ghangzhou, Nottingham, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Tunisia, USA, Japan, Columbia & Turkey.
