RAANANA, ISRAEL – Giles Hussey entered the ITF event and was the third seed. The Brit made it to the semi-final before being defeated.

BRIT OF THE WEEK

Giles Hussey entered the ITF event in Israel and was the third seed. In the first round the Brit was against wildcard entrant Joshua Luck. The Brit dominated the first set, as Luck struggled to hold serve. Hussey took the lead. The second set was all one way traffic as Hussey once again dominated, without losing a game. The Brit moved into the second round 6-2, 6-0.

The second round saw the Brit against Adrian Bodmer. The third seed secured the break of serve on the Swiss player to take the lead. The second set saw Bodmer play better and stay toe to toe with Hussey. A tiebreak ensued. It was the Swiss player that took the breaker and levelled up the match. The final set saw the Brit break Bodmer again and move into the next round 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-3.

In the quarter-final the Brit was against the fifth seed Emil Reinburg. The American got the jump on Hussey and took the early break. The second set saw the Brit fight back, breaking Reinburg to level up the match. The final set saw the Brit dominate and move into the semi-final 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The semi-final saw the Brit against the top seed Edan Leshem. Hussey was unable to stay with the pace of the Israel in the first set, who broke Hussey for the lead. The second set saw the top seed dominate the Brit who struggled to hold serve. The Israeli moved into the final 6-3, 6-1.

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Tiran Sanghera was defeated by Roi Ginat in the first round in Raanana 6-1, 5-7, 6-0.

Brandon Murphy was defeated by Robert Strombachs in the first round in Raanana 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Jasmine Conway was defeated by Nicole Nadel in the first round in Raanana 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Matilda Mutavdzic was defeated by Maria Timofeeva in the first round in Raanana 6-3, 6-1.

Mattias Southcombe was defeated by Emil Reinburg in the second round in Raanana 6-3, 6-0.

Emilie Lindh was defeated by Polina Kudermetova in the quarter-final in Raanana 6-4, 6-4.

Rahul Dhokla was defeated by Isaac Becroft in the second round in Wichita 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Amanda Carerras was defeated by Kathleen Kanev in the first round in Madrid 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1.

Alice Gillan was defeated by Maria Mateas in the second round in Santo Domingo 6-2, 7-5.

Next week Brits play in Eastbourne, Roehampton, France, Belgium, Switzerland, USA, Israel, Germany, Tunisia, Portugal & Romania.
