NONTHABURI, THAILAND – Arthur Fery entered the Challenger event and was unseeded. The Brit made the semi-final.

Brit of the Week

Arthur Fery entered the ATP Challenger event in Nonthaburi and was unseeded. The Brit faced Nicholas Ionel in the first round. The Romanian found the Brit too strong in the first set, as Fery dominated from the outset. No matter what Ionel tried he could not get back into the set. The second set was more of the same as Fery again dominated and moved easily into the next round 6-2, 6-2.

The second round saw the Brit against Salvatore Caruso. Fery dominated the first set once again as the Italian struggled to hold serve, the Brit soon had the lead. The second set was much closer as the Italian started to find some form. It looked to be heading towards a tiebreak, however Fery secured the vital break of serve needed and moved into the next round 6-1, 7-5.

In the quarter-final Fery was against Hiroki Moriya. The Japanese was the toughest match to date for the Brit. Fery and Moriya stayed close in the first set, before the Brit finally secured the vital break of serve and moved into the lead. The second set followed the same pattern and again Fery broke serve to move into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

The semi-final saw Fery against Valentin Vacherot of Monaco. Although scheduled, unfortunately Fery was unable to take to the court, so handed the victory by default to Vacherot. Overall it was a good week for the Brit, even with the withdrawal at this stage. Vacherot went on to win the title.
