Brit of the Week
Jan Choinski entered the ITF event in Germany and was the top seed. The Brit drew Italian Daniele Capecchi in the first round. The top seed fought hard and broke the serve of the Italian to take the lead. However, Capecchi fought back in the second set and levelled up the match. The final set saw the top seed secure the break of serve needed to move into the next round 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The second round saw Choinski against Tristan Lamasine. The Frenchman managed to stay with the Brit at the start of the first set before the top seed secured the break of serve to move ahead. The second set was much much closer. The Frenchman went toe to toe with the Brit and looked to be forcing a tiebreak. However, the top seed managed to secure the break of serve just when needed and moved into the next round 6-3, 7-5.
In the quarter-final the Brit was against German qualifier Florian Broska. The top seed started better and secured an early break of serve to move into the lead. However, Broska managed to re-group in the second set and dominate to level up the match. The final set saw the top seed dominate and move into the next round 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
The semi-final saw Choinski against another German, this time it was the third seed Daniel Masur. The German dominated the first set and took the lead. Although the Brit re-grouped in the second set and looked to be forcing a tiebreak, the German secured the break of serve just when needed and won the match 6-2, 7-5.
