MEERBUSCH, GERMANY – Jan Choinski was the second seed in the ATP Challenger event. The Brit lifted the trophy to claim his second Challenger title of the year.

Brit of the Week

Jan Choinski was the second seed in Germany and was against Nicola Kuhn in the first round. The German Wildcard stayed toe to toe with the Brit in the first set, forcing a tiebreak. Choinski managed to claim the breaker and took the lead. The second set was a little easier for the Brit as he broke Kuhn and moved into the next round 7-6, 6-4.

In the second round the Brit was against German Louis Wessels and dominated the first set. However, the German regrouped in the second and forced a tiebreak. Wessels took the tiebreak and levelled up the match. The final set again saw both players go toe to toe and another tiebreak ensued. This time the Brit prevailed and moved on 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.

The quarter-final saw Choinski against sixth seed Dimitar Kuzmanov. The Bulgarian dominated the first set, as the Brit struggled to get into the match. The second set saw the Brit regroup and break Kuzmanov late in the set to prevent a tiebreak and level the match. The final set saw Choinski break early and moved into the the next round 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

In the semi-final Choinski was against fourth Titouan Droguet. The Frenchman struggled with the Brit in the first set as the second seed dominated. The second set was a little closer as Droguet managed to stay closer to Choinski. Eventually, the Brit broke serve and took the match in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

The final saw the Brit against fifth seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli. The Argentine managed to stay with the Brit at first, before Choinski broke serve to take the lead. The second set was dominated by the Brit who didn’t lose a game and lifted the trophy in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.

 

 

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Felix Gill was defeated by Daniel Rincon in the first round in Meerbush 6-4, 6-2.

Harry Rock was defeated by Martin Damm in the first round in Southaven 6-1, 6-1.

Aidan McHugh was defeated by Chris Rodesch in the quarter-final in Southaven 6-3, 6-3.

Max Benaim was defeated by Ben Weintraub in the first round in Herzlia 6-0, 6-2.

James Davis was defeated by Orel Kimhi in the second round in Herzlia 6-4, 6-2.

Ben Jones was defeated by Andrea Guerrieri in the second round in Herzlia 6-4, 6-3.

Hamish Stewart was defeated by Andrea Guerrieri in the quarter-final in Herzlia 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Eden Silva was defeated by Laura Pigossi in the second round in Brasilia 6-4, 6-0.

Aryana Bartlett was defeated by India Houghton in the first round in Monastir 6-1, 6-4.
