Brit of the Week

Charles Broom entered the ITF event in Monastir and was the top seed. The Brit drew Kim Jae Hwan in the first round. The Korean stayed close to Broom in the first set, and looked to be forcing a tiebreak. However, Broom managed to secure the break of serve right at the end of the set. The second set saw the Brit dominate to ease through to the second round 7-5, 6-1.

In the second round Broom was against Mehluli Don Ayanda Sibanda. The Brit dominated the Zimbabwean in the first set and took the lead. The second set saw Sibanda try and get back on terms, however Broom stayed on top and managed to get the break of serve and book a spot in the next round 6-2, 6-3.

The quarter-final saw Broom against Szymon Kielan. The Pole was unseeded, but had taken out the eighth seed in the previous round. Kielan dominated the first set, with Broom struggling to get anything on the Polish players serve. The second set was much closer, as the Brit fought hard to level. Broom very nearly forced a tiebreak, but Kielan secured the break of serve right at the end to take the match 6-2, 7-5.
