Brit of the Week

Liam Broady entered the ATP Challenger and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit drew Mats Moraing. The German stayed with Broady at the start of the first set. Broady eventually got the break of serve needed and took the lead. The second set was much easier for Broady, as he dominated the German and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.

The second round the Brit was against the second seed Elias Ymer. The Swede went toe to toe with the Brit in the first set, before Broady secured the vital break of serve to take the lead. This seemed to break the spirit of the seed, as the second set was once again dominated by the Brit and Broady moved into the next round 6-3, 6-1.

In the quarter-final the Brit was against Evan Furness. The Frenchman was clearly struggling from the outset, as Broady eased through the first set without dropping a game. The second set started the same way, with the Brit taking the game. At this point Furness was unable to continue and pulled out of the match, handing the victory to the Brit 6-0, 1-0.

The semi-final saw Broady against Damir Dzumhur. The Boznian found the Brit too strong in the first set, as Broady dominated and broke at will to take the lead. The second set saw Dzumhur and Broady stay close together, until the Brit eventually made the breakthrough and took the match 6-1, 6-3.

In the final Broady was against Zdenek Kolar. The Czech and the Brit went toe to toe in the first set as neither player could get the edge. Eventually, the Brit took the set by taking the break and moved into the lead. The second set was more of the same, both players fighting to get the break. Broady eventually, managed to get the break and claimed the title 6-4, 6-4.
