DARWIN, AUSTRALIA – Naiktha Bains entered the ITF event and was the second seed. The Brit made the semi-final before losing to the fourth seed.

Naiktha Bains entered the ITF event in Darwin, the Brit was the second seed. In the first round Bains was against Lily Fairclough. The seed dominated from the outset. Bains had little difficulty in the match as Fairclough struggled to hold serve. Bains moved into the second round in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
The second round saw Bains against Nanari Katsumi. The Japanese stayed with the Brit in the first set, before Bains managed to secure a break of serve and take the lead. The second set saw Katsumi dominate and level up the match. In the final set the Brit re-grouped and dominated Katsumi to take the match 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
In the quarter-final the Brit was against fifth seed Momoko Kobori. The pair went toe to toe in the first set, and it looked like a tiebreak was in the offing. However, Bains secured the vital break of serve right at the end of the set to take the lead. The second set was just as close, with the Brit and Kobori staying close. Eventually, a tiebreak ensued. Bains dominated the breaker and took the match in straight sets 7-5, 7-6(2).
The semi-final saw the Brit against fourth seed Destanee Alava. The Australian dominated the first set and took the lead. The second set saw Bains try and mount a fight back. The Brit stayed close to Alava, but eventually the fourth seed broke right at the end of the set to take the match 6-2, 7-5.
