H2H: Katie Boulter (WR 25) Veronika Kudermetova (WR 75)
Tournament Previous Best R2 (2019, 2024) R3 (2021, 2022)
1st Serve Return Points Won % 24.4 42.1
Return Points Won % 32.6 51.4
Break Point Conversion % 60.0 42.9
Break Points Saved % 71.4 66.7
Overall Service Points Won % 64.4 60.7

Despite both players having had some matches under their belts coming into the Australian Open, Boulter trails quite significantly behind Kudermetova in terms of her return game, but was more effective in both deflecting and taking break points

Playing Styles & Prediction

Boulter is absolutely making the most of being adopted as an Aussie after announcing her engagement to Alex De Minaur, and she needed that support after dropping the second set to Rebecca Marino.

Kudermetova was in far more ruthless form, advancing for the loss of just two games, so ranking will play no part here – Boulter will have to sharpen up her game if she wats to get past the second round for the first time.

Both play aggressively so expect a lot of ball-bashing and Boulter will need to rely on her serve and forehand combination. The Brit has been working hard on her movement and will need try and come in more and be prepared to slug it out.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.
