Despite Boulter having slightly stronger stats for 2024, it was Yuan who made the stronger start with a great run from qualifying to the semi-finals of Hobart in the lead up to the Australian Open.

Playing Styles & Prediction

In what will most likely be a battle of the baseliners Boulter tends to be the more aggressive of the two and will want to make the most of a solid first serve and forehand combination. Yuan will be steady from the baseline, but will also have her confidence up with a good run to the Soeul final last year, and a semi-final from qualies at Hobart.

Neither are the best movers out on the tour, so it might come down to who can get around the court better, or put some variety into their play.

Prediction: Boulter in straight sets.
