So far this season Evans has been the most efficient on break point opportunities while the Canadian has been the most clutch when it comes to saving break points. However something will have to give in their match on Saturday between two in-form players.

Playing styles and prediction

Auger-Aliassime made his Grand Slam breakthrough at the US Open last year after reaching the semi-finals and seems to have renewed confidence at tennis’ biggest events. So far at the Australian Open the theme for the Canadian has been winning when not playing his best tennis with a five set win over Emil Ruusuvuori and a win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in four tiebreak sets showing he still has a long way to be considered a title contender.

Evans’ returning will be key in this match as well as overall consistency from both players. Auger-Aliassime will look to be aggressive from the second ball after the serve but the Canadian’s consistency has let him down in this tournament. Given how much the Canadian has played as well as the Brit’s awkward style then Evans enters this match as slight favourite.

Prediction: Evans in five sets.
