Playing styles and prediction

Since reaching the US Open quarter-finals, Tiafoe has lost four of his five matches since the last Grand Slam event with his only win taking place at Laver Cup. Now with end of the season approaching Tiafoe is looking for some positives to take into 2024 and will hope the indoor hard court season will be the perfect opportunity to do that.

Evans will look to use his variety to set up short balls from Tiafoe as he looks to finish points off quickly by using his backhand. Meanwhile Tiafoe will look to serve consistently and aggressively in order to put Evans under pressure on return as he looks to force errors from the Brit. This should be a tight contest but Evans’ craft and variety should see him edge through.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.
