Playing styles and prediction

The 32 year-old hasn’t had the best season so far but has hit form at the right time having won a challenger event in Istanbul a couple of weeks ago. That was followed up with back to back wins in Seoul last week and the Moldovan will look to bring his power game and intimidate Evans.

The Brit will look to use his slice to construct effective points and force errors from Albot’s racket with the Moldovan certainly looking to overcommit on his shots. Evans will see this as a good opportunity to build some of his form back and if the Brit plays a solid match with minimal unforced errors then he should secure his first ever main draw win in Tokyo.

Prediction: Evans in straight sets.
