Murray will need to be aggressive with the backhand return as Giron has been effective and consistent on serve this season.

Playing styles and prediction

Giron has lacked form and confidence since reaching the final in Dallas in February, having only won back-to-back matches in two events. However Giron will be hoping to turn his form around in the grass court season with the American aiming to implement his effective serving on a faster surface after winning only one match over the clay court season.

Murray will look to be aggressive on the backhand as he will need to be efficient on serve by he producing a consistently high first serve percentage. Meanwhile Giron will extend the rallies, using the forehand to create depth as he looks to use variety to catch Murray off guard. This should be a good test for Murray but the Brit should edge through given Giron’s lack of form in general on grass.

Prediction: Murray in three sets.
