It was third time lucky for Jack Draper as the Brit won his maiden ATP title in his third final of his career.
The new British number one defeated former champion Matteo Berrettini in three sets to secure the title.
However, it was by no means easy for Draper as the Italian produced a dominant start as the Italian cruised to the opening set before threatening for the break in the second set.
In the end Draper’s improvement and work on his serve paid off as he produced clutch serving under pressure to win the tiebreak 7-5.
As the set went on Berrettini’s made more errors and Draper’s confident forehand capitalized as he sealed a crucial break in the seventh game.
A hold to love sealed the most important moment in the sixth seed’s career as he claimed his first career title.
Speaking after the match Draper pointed to a ‘change in mindset’ as to why his form has suddenly clicked and also spoke about trusting his serve more since working with Wayne Ferreira.
“It was about trusting my serve and just trusting my game,” Draper was quoted by The Telegraph as saying.
“I don’t want to be a defensive player anymore. I want to play like a guy who’s 6ft 4in, instead of a guy who is 5ft 6in. I think that’s really benefited me this week. And I think ultimately it was a change in mindset, a penny-drop moment.

Draper set for Wimbledon seeding
After becoming the 13th Brit to win an ATP singles title, Draper is now on the verge of being seeded for Wimbledon.
It’s been a successful week for Draper who has overtaken Cameron Norrie as British number one and now looks set to avoid some big names in the first two rounds of SW19.
Speaking about the prospect, Draper hinted that he is relieved to avoid some big names in the first two rounds having had some brutal draws this season.
“It means you’re not going to play a top player in the first couple of rounds,” Draper explained to The Telegraph.
“This year, I’ve played a lot of top-10, top-15 players in the first round, second round, and it’s been really hard to get going in these tournaments. Obviously everyone in the draw can play amazing tennis, but it does give you a bit of protection that you won’t play, say, Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner.
“It’s a big achievement, a big goal of mine to be seeded in Wimbledon, and hopefully I can have a good run there.”
Draper will now play his first round match at Queen’s Club on Tuesday against Mariano Navone.
