Murray is more clinical on break points however Bublik has significantly better statistics when it comes to saving break points so something will have to give in this contest.

Playing styles and prediction

The unconventional Kazakh’s big serving and variety in tactics makes him a tough opponent indoors. Bublik’s ability to dictate points within one shot means the opponent is forced to rush his shots and ensure that his opponents must be clinical when the opportunities are there.

Murray need to use slices and alert return of serves if he wants to have a chance against the powerful Bublik. A mix of patience and aggression is needed as the Kazakh’s level of play can rise and fall at any moment. This will test Murray’s ability to be consistent and aggressive at the same time as a busy few weeks approaches for the Brit no lapses in performances can be allowed as he aims to pick up as many points as possible heading into the clay court season.

Prediction: Murray in three sets.
