Playing Styles and Prediction

Coric’s second round loss to Alexander Zverev in Madrid means the Croatian still hasn’t won back-to-back matches since Montpellier in February. Now the 27 year-old will aim to add consistency to his powerful game as he will look to climb back up the rankings and be in contention for a Grand Slam seeding spot towards the end of year.

Draper will look to continue his efficient returning as he will aim for depth in order to force Coric into hitting shorter balls into the court. Meanwhile Coric will aim to continue his big serving under pressure as he will use the forehand to force Draper into uncomfortable positions on the court. This will be a tough match for Draper against a player who has produced consistently good results on clay in the past. However the Brit should have too much confidence and quality as there is no better time to be playing the vulnerable Croatian.

Prediction: Draper in three sets.
