Playing styles and prediction

Basilashvili has struggled for form this season with the Georgian only winning five matches in 2022 and three of those wins coming in Doha. Now with Roland Garros approaching Basilashvili will be determined to bring some consistency to his brutal power and gain some much-needed wins.

Evans will look to put pressure on Basilashvili early and use the slice to test the Georgian’s ability to place power accurately. Evans will look to use his confidence to be aggressive and will know that his statistics are marginally better in all areas. Although this should be a tight match, conditions will favour the Brit and he should edge into the second round here.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.
