Playing styles and prediction

Nakashima has slowly been building his ranking as the American continues to edge towards the world’s top 50. Back-to-back semi-finals at the Surbiton Challenger and Stuttgart will give him confidence on his best surface. Now Nakashima will hope to continue the momentum as his effective serving has caused multiple players problems.

Evans will need to be aggressive on serve as he will aim to implement his vicious slice and drop shots to catch the American by surprise. Meanwhile Nakashima will continue his efficiency on serve and will aim to be more clinical on return. This will be a tough match for Evans but if he can find confidence with his slice then he will believe his gradually improving performances will translate into results.

Prediction: Nakashima in three sets.
