Jack Draper has already made an impact at ATP level having defeated Jannik Sinner at Queen’s club last year and came close to beating Andrey Rublev on the clay of Madrid earlier this year. Now Draper looks to continue to make strides as he is on the verge of a place in the world’s top 100.

Standing in Draper’s way is Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz with the American entering the tournament having lost in the second round of Roland Garros to Bernabe Zapata Miralles. Fritz will now look to play better on the grass courts and replicate the form produced earlier in the season where he beat Rafael Nadal in California.

This should be a great match for Draper to build confidence and ultimately he should triumph in a winnable match for him.

Prediction: Draper in three sets.

Liam Broady enters Queen’s Club having won back-to-back matches at an event for the first time since March when he reached the quarter-finals at the Nottingham challenger. Broady will hope that progression is a sign of things to come as he looks to build momentum towards Wimbledon.

First up for Broady is the in-form Marin Cilic who recently reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros, completing the grand slam semi-final set. The Croatian is playing with freedom and some of the best tennis of his career and will hope that translates into the rest of the grass court swing.

This will be a tough test for Broady and Cilic’s confidence as well as clean ball-striking should ensure victory here.

Prediction: Cilic in straight sets.

Ryan Peniston heads into his maiden ATP event of the year in some good form having picked up good wins at challenger level over the likes of Adrian Mannarino, Jack Draper and Jiri Vesely. Peniston now looks to translate those results onto the main tour and make a name for himself on a big stage.

It doesn’t get any tougher than world number six Casper Ruud though as the Norwegian heads into the grass court season off the back of a maiden grand slam final at Roland Garros. Ruud now looks to make strides on grass which has traditionally been his weakest surface.

Peniston should give Ruud a few problems but in the end overall quality and confidence of the top seed should prevail in this opening round encounter.

Prediction: Ruud in straight sets.

Paul Jubb enters the main tour having won a challenger in Bolivia a few months ago and is hoping to use his big serve to make an impact on the grass court season. The Brit defeated James Duckworth and Steve Johnson to get to the main draw and will look to take his opportunity.

The 22 year-old now faces Botic Van De Zandschulp in his Queen’s club opener with the Dutchman coming from a good clay court swing. Van De Zandshculp will look to take his big game onto the grass courts.

A good test for Jubb against a player who is inexperienced on grass but Van De Zandschulp’s experience on the tour should help him progress.

Prediction: Van De Zandschulp in three sets.
