LONDON, ENGLAND – Dan Evans will look to capitalise on a great run of form to give Stan Wawrinka a headache, while Kyle Edmund just wants a bit of form going into Wimbledon.

As well as facing the British No. 2 Dan Evans, coming in with some sizeable momentum, the No. 7 seed Stan Wawrinka also has the headache of knowing that his past matches with the British No. 1 have all been tough battles, with Wawrinka having come out on top – for now.

Apart from a glorious run to the semi-finals in 2014, Queen’s has not been a particularly solid hunting ground for the Swiss, whose career record on grass of 29/28 suggest that he might think the grass is better suited to Swiss cows. It will, however, be interesting to see what the effect of working with Grigor Dimitrov’s former coach Dani Vallverdu will bring, having also been a trusted lieutenant of Andy Murray in the past.

On the flip-side of the coin, we have a resurgent Evans whose start to the grass court season has been impressive – back to back ATP Challenger titles in Nottingham and Surbiton sees Evans looking close to breaking back into the Top 50.

Evans took a set off Wawrinka when he faced him earlier this year in Indian Wells, and there is absolutely no reason to think he can’t pull off the upset.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.

Top seed for the second week in a row, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be perhaps hoping for a better outing than an opening round exit than he had in Den Bosch. Last year was his career best season on grass and will look to pick up speed.

Meanwhile, Kyle Edmund is in desperate need of a turnaround in fortunes. It looked as though he was back on his way after a poor start to the year, by winning the Indian Wells Challenger and then reaching the R16 of Indian Wells proper, but since then he has only one of his last seven matches but has been as far as the R16 last year.

Tsitsipas’ consistency across all surfaces makes him one of the best performers of the year, and even with an enthusiastic home crowd behind him, it might not be enough to overcome the dazzle of the young Greek.

Prediction: Tsitsipas in straight sets.

Jay Clarke [WC] v Lucas Pouille

If the weather holds up we should also see British wild-card Jay Clarke as he looks to pick up some momentum in the lead up to Wimbledon. He will play Lucas Pouille who has picked up his grass feet in Stuttgart with a run to the quarter-final, as opposed to back to back opening losses in UK challengers, on top of a first round qualifying loss in Paris.

It will take a monumental effort to come off the back of four straight losses to beat a Top 30 player in Pouille.

Prediction: Pouille in straight sets.
