NEWPORT, USA – Billy Harris has carried on his grass court momentum by qualifying for Newport and will now face Gabriel Diallo in the opening round.

Billy Harris has continued the momentum from his British grass court season by qualifying for Newport and will face Canadian Gabriel Diallo in the first round.

Harris will aim for continued success on return against a player who has served efficiently this season.

 

 

Playing Styles and Prediction

Diallo has had some decent results and performances this year including qualifying for Roland Garros. However, the Canadian should be doing much better as he has lacked consistency in order to go deep at tournaments. Now Diallo hopes that Newport will be the tournament that changes his form around as he looks for a place in the world’s top 50.

Harris will look to be efficient on return as he will use the forehand to be aggressive and dictate play. Meanwhile, Diallo will need to keep a high first serve percentage as the Canadian’s second serve consistency is probably the weakest area of his game. This should be a good opening test for Harris which given current form, the Brit should prevail in although it won’t be easy.

Prediction: Harris in three sets.
