It’s been a rejuvenated last couple of months for Stefanos Tsitsipas after the Greek’s ATP 500 title in Dubai. The sixth seed is entering his favourite time of the season and is now bidding for a fourth title in Monte-Carlo. This is an important clay court swing for Tsitsipas who now needs to show he can capitalize on his confidence and actually contend for a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. The question remains whether Tsitsipas has the consistency, belief and quality to go all the way and that will be answered over the next couple of months.

Next up for Tsitsipas will be the highly talented Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian powered past Matteo Berrettini in what was an improved performance from his previous two rounds which both went to three sets. Although it has been a disappointing showing from Musetti this season, now is his time to shine as he has been impressive in past seasons on the clay. Having won his first ATP 500 title in Hamburg a few years ago, Musetti will now aim to make his Masters 1000 breakthrough in front of a passionate Italian following.

Tsitsipas will aim to be aggressive on serve as he will use the forehand to create depth and force errors from Musetti. The return will be important for Musetti as he will need to take advantage of any short second serves from Tsitsipas. This should be the most competitive match in their head-to-head so far but Tsitsipas’ quality and confidence should prevail once again.

Prediction: Tsitsipas in three sets.

It was a dominant performance from Carlos Alcaraz as the Spaniard ended Daniel Altmaier’s dream run in Monaco. The second seed has maybe felt that he should be doing better this season but Alcaraz is playing with authority and is the heavy favourite to capture the title at Roland Garros next month. However, the Spaniard will know that being complacent isn’t an option right now and will need to stay focused if he wants to add Monte-Carlo to his list of titles.

A tricky quarter-final awaits Alcaraz in the form of talented Frenchman Arthur Fils. The 12th seed produced an extremely efficient performance to defeat Andrey Rublev and it is now a third consecutive Masters 1000 quarter-final for the 20 year-old. The versatility of Fils has been impressive to see but now it’s time for the Frenchman to show that he can compete with the best players in the world as she looks to achieve a standout result at Masters 1000 level.

Alcaraz will use the forehand to pin Fils behind the baseline as he be as aggressive as possible, being clinical on return. Meanwhile the Frenchman will continue to be aggressive on serve while using the backhand to create effective angles from the baseline. This will be a very entertaining clash between two future stars of the sport but Alcaraz is just one step ahead of Fils and it’s the Spaniard’s consistent quality that should prevail here.

Prediction: Alcaraz in three sets.

It’s been an incredible last year for Alex De Minaur who continues to improve on all surfaces. The Australian produced a dominant performance over Daniil Medvedev to reach the last eight in Monaco and continued the pattern of producing incredible performances on the red dirt. Now De Minaur will aim to continue his aggressive play on clay and continued to produce landmark results on what is his traditionally his weakest surface.

Next up for De Minaur is Grigor Dimitrov as the Bulgarian did what Novak Djokovic couldn’t do and that’s defeat Alejandro Tabilo. An incredible performance from Dimitrov sent a real statement to the rest of the field that he can remain competitive on clay and will be a threat for the rest of this clay court swing. Now Dimitrov aims to win a big title on clay and continue to get better with age.

De Minaur will need to be aggressive on serve as he aims neutralise the lethal backhand of Dimitrov. Meanwhile the Bulgarian will use the angles and kick serve to move De Minaur out of position in order to finish points off efficiently at the net. This will be a very close and competitive match with both players playing with confidence. However, Dimitrov’s slightly higher base level and comfortability on clay gives him a slight advantage.

Prediction: Dimitrov in three sets.

Former finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina produced another stunning performance on clay as the Spaniard ousted out Jack Draper in a two hour and 48 minute performance. However, Davidovich Fokina was far from happy with his performance and is determined to show his full potential by achieving another deep run in Monte-Carlo. The question is whether the Spaniard has the emotional control and consistency to reach the latter stages in Monaco?

Standing in Davidovich Fokina’s way is Alexei Popyrin after the Australian produced a phenomenal performance to knock out two-time Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud. It has been a poor start to the season for Popyrin but when the Australian is on form, there is barely anyone in the world who can match his consistent quality. Now Popyrin is targeting a second Masters 1000 title of his career.

Davidovich Fokina will aim to be aggressive on the backhand side as he looks to force errors from Popyrin. Meanwhile Popyrin will look to be aggressive on serve and use the forehand to extend the rallies. This will be another physical battle between two exceptionally good movers and it will come down to who can play the pressure points better. The evidence suggests that will be Popyrin but it’s a tough contest to call.

Prediction: Popyrin in three sets.
