Playing styles and prediction

After a good start to the season where he reached the semi-finals in Hong Kong, Ofner has been on a poor run of form since then having only won three matches since. The Austrian has lost some tight matches this season and will be hoping that the clay court season will mean a change of luck as he looks to convert good performances into wins.

Evans will use the angles to force Ofner into uncomfortable positions as he aims to test the Austrian’s movement from the baseline. Meanwhile Ofner will hope to be consistent on serve as he aims to take the match out of Evans’ hands, using the forehand to dictate play. This will be a good early test for Evans against an opponent who is out of confidence at the moment.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.
