MONTE CARLO, MONACO – Jack Draper survived a tough first day for the Brits and earns a second round encounter with 10th seed Hubert Hurkacz.

In a day that saw British No. 1 Cameron Norrie, and former World No. 1 Andy Murray bounce out of the Monte Carlo Masters, Jack Draper fought his way into the second round, beating Sebastian Baez to earn his shot against Hubert Hurkacz.

Despite having had an injury disrupted year, Draper’s stats outstrip Hurkacz in all but first serve % – which is perhaps a surprise given how much of a weapon Draper’s serve has become as he has progressed.
Playing Styles & Prediction
The Pole typically plays a defensive baseline game and on clay, can drag this out, so it will be vital for Draper to try and do his nest to muscle the points.
Interestingly Hurkacz is a more efficient server, and much like Draper is solid off both wings. The Pole will look to grind Draper out and make every [point physical – and that will cotinine to be a test for Draper this year.
