MONTE-CARLO, MONACO – Dan Evans is looking to continue his clay court momentum into Monte-Carlo where he faces Ilya Ivashka in the opening round.

After reaching the Marrakech semi-finals, Dan Evans is looking to continue the clay court momentum in Monte-Carlo where he faces Ilya Ivashka.

After losing five matches in a row to start the season, Ivashka finally gained some wins in America to earn some positive feelings ahead of the clay court season. Now after winning two matches to qualify, Ivashka will hope to earn some consistency in Monaco as he looks to rise to the world’s top 60.

Evans will look to test Ivashka’s serve and baseline game by using the angles and slice to mix up the tempo of rallies. Meanwhile Ivashka will use his power and depth to put Evans in uncomfortable positions in the court and force errors from Evans’ game. The Brit’s recent momentum on clay and variety should see him in the next round.

Prediction: Evans in straight sets.
