MONTE-CARLO, MONACO – Jack Draper begins his clay court season against clay court specialist against Sebastian Baez in Monte-Carlo.

Draper will look to continue serving well on a consistent basis as he takes on the efficient returning of Baez.

 

 

Playing Styles and Prediction

Baez has had a tough last few tournaments but loves the clay courts having won Estoril last season as well as winning the Cordoba title earlier in the year. The Argentinian also forced Alexander Zverev to five sets last year and will know that he is capable of giving any player a tough time over the next couple of months.

Draper will look to overpower Baez with his serve and forehand as he looks to shorten the average rally length. Meanwhile the Argentinian will look to use his backhand to force the errors from Draper as he looks to be consistent from the baseline. This is a tough first clay court match of the season for the Brit and although there will be positive signs, Draper will come up short against the resilient Baez.

Prediction: Baez in three sets.
