2nd Serve Return Points Won % 65 50
Break Points Converted % 33 41

It might come as a surprise to learn that the one win Evans has over Lajovic came on clay! Also Evans has at least had a first outing over the dirt over the Serbian who will start his clay court season in Monte Carlo.

However, Lajovic is just ahead of Evans on key stats for this year, except on 2nd serve return points won. For Evans it will be vital to get into Lajovic’s service games and keep him off balance.

Playing Styles

It could be a very long and painful season on the dirt for Evans, and coming up against Lajovic is no easy pick for an opener.

Despite stating his favourite surface as hard, Lajovic does have a game made for clay courts, playing strongly from the baseline, and is very capable off both wings. His heavy kick serve can look to cause Evans a few problems.

Prediction

Evans at least has had some clay under his shows, and it remains to be seen what effect might be lingering from the abdominal injury he picked up in Italy.

He played a solid game against Lorenzo Musetti but it all rather slipped and slid away from him at the end, and he will be up against a far more experienced player.

Prediction: Lajovic in three sets.
