Best Result: Champion (2022)

Alcaraz is aiming to win the sunshine double after an impressive defence of his title at Indian Wells.

Alcaraz’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)

  • R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
  • R2: Roberto Carballes Baena | H2H: First Meeting
  • R3: Borna Coric [32] | H2H: Alcaraz leads 1-0
  • R4: Ben Shelton [16] | H2H: Alcaraz leads 1-0
  • QF: Hubert Hurkacz [8] | H2H: Alcaraz leads 3-0
  • SF: Alexander Zverev [4] | H2H: Zverev leads 5-4
  • F: Jannik Sinner [2] | H2H: Tied at 4-4

There are some potentially tricky ties for Alcaraz to negotiate in the early rounds with Aleksandar Vukic, Gael Monfils and Borna Coric all having the potential to cause an upset against the Spaniard. There could be an exciting fourth round test against Ben Shelton before a quarter-final against either Grigor Dimitrov or Hubert Hurkacz. Overall Alcaraz will feel satisfied with his draw and has every right to feel confident with his game after an impressive defence of his title at Indian Wells.

Best Result: Final (2021, 2023)

After his winning streak ending in Indian Wells, Sinner will be determined to get back on track in Miami where he has been in the final in two of the last three editions.

Sinner’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)

  • R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
  • R2: Pedro Cachin | H2H: First Meeting
  • R3: Tallon Griekspoor [25] | H2H: Sinner leads 3-0
  • R4: Tommy Paul [13] | H2H: Sinner leads 2-1
  • QF: Andrey Rublev [5] | H2H: Sinner leads 5-2
  • SF: Daniil Medvedev [3] | H2H: Medvedev leads 6-4
  • F: Carlos Alcaraz [1] | H2H: Tied at 4-4

Sinner has a fairly comfortable start to the tournament although Frances Tiafoe or Tommy Paul could prove problematic in fast conditions in the fourth round. A quarter-final meeting against Andrey Rublev would favour the Italian given their head-to-head record before a repeat of last year’s final in the semi-finals with Medvedev. Overall Sinner will believe he can continue his incredible start to the season as he has done so well in Miami in the past as he looks to finally win the title in Florida.

Best Results: Champion (2023)

After falling short at Indian Wells, Medvedev will aim to successfully defend his title in Miami against a strong field.

Medvedev’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)

  • R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
  • R2: Max Purcell | H2H: First Meeting
  • R3: Cameron Norrie [30] | H2H: Medvedev leads 2-0
  • R4: Ugo Humbert [14] | H2H: Humbert leads 4-1
  • QF: Casper Ruud [7] | H2H: Medvedev leads 3-0
  • SF: Jannik Sinner [2] | H2H: Medvedev leads 6-4
  • F: Carlos Alcaraz [1] | H2H: Alcaraz leads 4-2

Medvedev will face some fairly aggressive styles of play in the opening rounds with Max Purcell and Cameron Norrie already proving this season that they can be aggressive and consistent. An in-form Ugo Humbert awaits in the last 16 before an improved Casper Ruud will provide Medvedev with a stern quarter-final test. The defending champion has been handed a tough draw but should Medvedev produce the tennis he did in Indian Wells than he has every chance of winning a second consecutive Miami title.

Best Result: Quarter-Final (2021, 2024)

Zverev showed signs of his best tennis at Indian Wells and will look to do the same in Miami, an event he is yet to reach the semi-finals in.

Zverev’s Path to the Final (Seeding/Ranking)

  • R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
  • R2: Felix Auger-Aliassime | H2H: Zverev leads 5-2
  • R3: Christopher Eubanks [31] | H2H: Zverev leads 1-0
  • R4: Karen Khachanov [15] | H2H: Zverev leads 3-2
  • QF: Holger Rune [6] | H2H: Rune leads 1-0
  • SF: Carlos Alcaraz [1] | H2H: Zverev leads 5-4
  • F: Jannik Sinner [2] | H2H: Zverev leads 4-1

The German will face two talented players who will have a point to prove in the opening two rounds with Felix Auger-Aliassime and Christopher Eubanks waiting respectively. Former semi-finalist Francisco Cerundolo could await in the last 16 before a tough quarter-final against Holger Rune. Ultimately Zverev will know that a tough section of the draw awaits him and a run to the semi-finals will boost his confidence heading into the clay court season.

Miami starts on Wednesday 20th March and concludes on Sunday 31st March.
