Playing styles and prediction

Sonego has struggled with consistency in his game as he hasn’t won back-to-back matches at an event since Metz in November last year. The Italian is capable of producing moments of magic but ultimately needs to start putting those moments together or he could face a big drop in the rankings.

Evans will need to be consistent on serve as he looks to use slice and depth to force Sonego behind the baseline. The Italian will aim to be aggressive on serve as he will look to shorten the points. In every match Evans has played against Sonego, the Brit has failed to be aggressive on the big points. Given Evans’ inconsistency in terms of confidence, that same patterns is likely to occur in this match as well.

Prediction: Sonego in three sets. Β Β Β Β
