Playing styles and prediction

Despite Andujar being a clay-courter, the Spaniard reached the third round of the Australian Open earlier this year. The 36 year-old is one of the more dangerous clay-courters on tour having beaten the likes of Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem on the red dirt last year and will look to cause similar shocks this season.

Evans will need to display a full range of clay-court skills and be really consistent with his point construction. Andujar will force longer rallies but also become aggressive with the forehand in the big points, which is what makes this match so dangerous for the Brit. In the long-term this is a beneficial match to have for Evans but for the short-term this is a tough match to get his clay-court season going.

Prediction: Andujar in three sets.
