Cameron Norrie secured his spot in Sunday’s final with a dominating 6-1 6-1 victory over eighth seed Karen Khachanov. The Brit produced an immense level of consistency from the first set as he raced into a 4-0 lead after grinding out two breaks of serve. The Russian failed to create a break point in the opening set as his unforced errors allowed Norrie to serve out the opening set.

It was no different in the second set with Norrie’s consistent power dominating Khachanov and his inability to end rallies quickly. Despite producing better tennis towards the end of the match, the world number 49 broke on three occasions in the second set to secure a second final in three events.

For the first time this week, Norrie is facing someone who has much better stats than he has in all departments and so the key for the Brit will be winning a high percentage of first serve points. The Brit will also have to be very clinical especially considering Tsitsipas’ high percentage of break points saved.

Playing Styles and Prediction

The World No. 5 is one of the frontrunners to dethrone Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros having taken both Nadal and Novak Djokovic to their limits in 3+hour contests in Barcelona and Rome. Tsitsipas’ aggressive, one-strike tennis will mean that Norrie will have to be clutch in pressure moments against one of the best players of the clay season.

However Norrie’s confidence will be high right now and won’t be phased by the challenge tomorrow. If anything he will relish it in a match that the Brit has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Should Tsitsipas be on top form tomorrow then there should only be one winner.

Prediction: Tsitsipas in two sets.
