Playing styles and prediction

Rinderknech has lacked consistency and form since winning the Lille Challenger title in late February as the Frenchman’s game has dipped. However there is still time for the world number 73 to improve his performance as on his day the Frenchman’s big serve and groundstrokes can do serious damage.

Evans will need to be controlled and aggressive on return with the Brit looking to create angles to find space on the court. Meanwhile Rinderknech will aim to do damage on serve and on the forehand as he will need to dictate the match on his terms. Rinderknech’s suitability on clay makes him slight favourite but neither player are in inspiring form at the moment.

Prediction: Rinderknech in three sets.
