Playing styles and prediction

Tseng hasn’t made a successful transition to the tour yet after claiming grand slam junior titles but the 20 year-old has racked up plenty of wins on the challenger circuit on clay this season. Now Tseng will look to make his mark on the hard courts ahead of the US Open.

Norrie will look to dominate play from his serve and continue his powerful consistency off both forehand and backhand. Tseng will try to neutralise Norrie’s variety as much as possible and take advantage of any possible rustiness the Brit may face. This will be a tricky test given Norrie’s mini-break off after Wimbledon but he should come through in the end and begin his title defence in successful fashion.

Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
