Cameron Norrie [12] def Jenson Brooksby 6-2 6-4
Cameron Norrie continued the defence of his Indian Wells title with a comfortable straight sets win over Jenson Brooksby to reach the quarter-finals. Norrie started the match in clinical form, being aggressive from the start of the match as Brooksby looked to overcome early match nerves and errors. The Brit cruised to a double break advantage as he took a 4-0 lead.
The American eventually found his rhythm towards the end of the set as he started to serve more confidently and producing his power game on a consistent basis. Brooksby managed to trouble Norrie’s serve in the sixth game but the Brit produced big points in the big moments to hold serve as he eventually took the opening set 6-2 in 32 minutes.
The second set from Brooksby was much better as he found a higher level of consistency with his groundstrokes and return. The American was coming out on top in the big moments and in the long rallies as he sealed an early break and took a 3-0 lead as Norrie now needed to problem-solve.
That’s what the Brit did as some aggressive returning and good use of angles grinded out the break to get back on serve and reduce the deficit to 3-2. After a hold to love, Norrie then took control of the set, increasing the intensity of his footwork and overall play, as he broke to take a 4-3 lead.
Despite Brooksby breaking back and putting up a great battle, the defending champion broke once again winning a long rally and holding to love to book his place into the quarter-finals.

Alcaraz has been extremely effective on serve and return which shows in the statistics but Norrie has been better on big points on serve.
Playing Styles and Prediction
Alcaraz has continued where he left off last season and is on a nine match winning streak having won his first ATP 500 in Rio De Janeiro. The Spaniard has added even more power and physical elements to his game both in attack and defence which makes it so tough to beat from the opponents perspective.
Norrie will need to be consistent in his approach and use his variety to try and disrupt Alcaraz’s rhythm and power. This match will be a battle between who can be the more aggressive play and how both players can neutralise the opponent’s game defensively. Alcaraz just has the edge but Norrie will make it close and believe that he can outsmart the Spaniard on the big points.
Prediction: Alcaraz in three sets.
