Playing styles and prediction

Hanfmann has been struggling for form in recent months with the German not winning back-to-back matches at a tournament since Miami. However with Geneva being perfect conditions for his game, Hanfmann will aim to turn his form around and boost his confidence ahead of Roland Garros.

Murray will look for tactical clarity on serve as he aims to be aggressive and take the ball as early as possible. Meanwhile Hanfmann will look to be ruthless on the backhand as he will punish Murray’s vulnerable second serves. A good performance would be perfect for Murray as he looks to gain valuable time on court ahead of the grass court season. However Hanfmann’s game is well suited to the conditions in Geneva and the German should have too much quality in this match.

Prediction: Hanfmann in three sets.
