Liam Broady would have been encouraged by his performance in the three set defeat to the in-form Adrian Mannarino at Queen’s Club. However Broady is lacking in consistency in his form over the last couple of months as the Brit is looking to edge nearer to the world’s top 100. The perfect opportunity for Broady to build consistency and form is at Eastbourne where the Brit will look to gain confidence heading into Wimbledon, where he reached the third round for the first time in his career last year.

Next for Broady will be compatriot Jan Choinski who is looking for confidence of his own after a tight straight sets defeat to Lorenzo Musetti at Queen’s Club. Although grass isn’t Choinski’s favourite surface, the Brit more than held his own against one of the ATP’s most confident players. Now the Brit will look to translate performance into results as he looks to capitalise on a massive opportunity in Eastbourne after earning a lucky losers spot into the main draw.

Broady will look to make a high percentage of first serves an be aggressive with his forehand. While Choinski will look to be smart with his returns and produce deep shot-making to make the Brit uncomfortable. This will be a match between a contrast in styles however Broady’s consistent power should have too much for Choinski.

Prediction: Broady in three sets.

It wasn’t to be another fairytale story for Ryan Peniston at Queen’s Club as the Brit gave a spirited performance in his second round defeat to Holger Rune. The Brit’s consistency on serve and aggression with the forehand will give him confidence heading into the rest of the grass court swing as Peniston now looks for back-to-back wins heading into Wimbledon. Should Peniston achieve his goal in Eastbourne then it would have been the first time since February that the Brit would have won back-to-back matches at a tournament.

Next for Peniston is Swiss qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler with the world number 80 struggling for form himself. Huesler hasn’t won back-to-back matches in a main draw of a tournament this season and prior to s-Hertogenbosch was on a five match losing streak. Now Huesler looks to turn his form around as he looks to gain confidence at Eastbourne ahead of the third grand slam of the season.

Peniston’s returning quality will be tested against Peniston’s accurate serving and point construction but the Brit’s overall aggressiveness should prove too much for the Swiss qualifier.

Prediction: Peniston in three sets.

George Loffhagen’s incredibly consistent season on the ITF tour has earned its rewards after reaching a maiden Challenger quarter-final in Nottingham. Now as a result the talented 22 year-old has earned himself a main draw wildcard at Wimbledon as he looks to show the world his talents. The Brit would love nothing more than to show why he is deserving of a wildcard by making a deep run at Eastbourne.

First up for Loffhagen in his ATP debut is another talented play in Frenchman Luca Van Assche. The Frenchman made his big breakthrough earlier in the year on home soil and has continued to display his talent on the Challenger circuit. Although the ATP tour has proven a challenging time for Van Assche, the 19 year-old would love nothing more than to boost his confidence in Eastbourne.

Both players will look to produce their raw power and be aggressive from the serve. Although Loffhagen’s nothing to lose mentality could prove a threat for Van Assche, the Frenchman should have too much quality for the Brit in this opening round match.

Prediction: Van Assche in three sets.
