Playing styles and prediction

After a strong end to last season which included winning the Almaty title, Khachanov has struggled to get wins this season. The world number 21 has only won two matches this year and has lost his last three matches after failing to defend his Doha title last week. Now Khachanov will be desperate to gain some form of confidence in Dubai ahead of a busy next month.

Evans will use the backhand to carve out angles on the court and test Khachanov’s confidence and patience from the baseline. Meanwhile Khachanov will look to dominate on serve and will aim to finish points off efficiently at the net. This will be an interesting match given the fact that Evans has won all five meetings against Khachanov and nobody will be ruling the Brit out in this contest as he looks to use this opportunity in Dubai to elevate his ranking.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.
