KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE, USA – Liam Broady entered the Knoxville Challenger and was unseeded. The Brit took out two seeds en route.

Brit of the Week
Liam Broady entered the ATP Knoxville Challenger and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit was against Donald Young. The American stayed toe to toe with the Brit in the first round, forcing a tiebreaker. Broady edged the breaker and moved into the lead. Young was unable to do anything with the Brit in the second set, and Broady moved into the second round in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-3.
The second round saw the Brit against seventh seed Marco Giron. The American dominated the first set and Broady could do nothing about it. However, the Brit re-grouped in the second set, forcing a tiebreak which the Brit one. Broady then secured the vital break of serve in a tight and edgy final set to move into the third round 2-6, 7-6(3), 7-5.
In the third round the Brit was up against 10th seed Emilio Gómez. The Ecuadorian stayed with Broady in the first set, before the Brit broke serve right at the end of the set. In the second set the seed managed to break the Brit serve and level up the match. In the final set the Brit fought well and took the break of serve moving into the quarter final 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.
The quarter-final saw Broady against Gijs Brouwer. The Dutch player could not do nothing in the first set to prevent the Brit from breaking serve and moving ahead. The second set saw Brouwer fight back and dominate the set, levelling up the match. In the final set Broady once again broke serve and moved into the semi final 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
In the semi-final the Brit was facing Michael Mmoh. The American was too strong in the first set and dominated to take the lead. In the second Broady tried to fight back and forced a tiebreak. Unfortunately it was the American who edged the breaker and took the spot in the final 6-2, 7-6(5).
