Brit of the Week

Jack Draper entered the ITF event and was the top seed. In the first round the Brit drew Alexander Jhung. Draper had to fight hard in the first set but was able to break Jhung. The top seed then held on to take the set. Draper had little problem in the second set and moved into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

The second round saw the top seed against Sean Hodkin. Draper completely dominated the first set with Hodkin unable to get any games on the board. The second set saw Hodkin playing better, securing some games. The top seed was forced to step up a gear, overcoming Hodkin eventually in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.

In the quarter-final the top seed was against the eighth seed Francesco Vilardo. The Italian managed to stay with the top seed for most of the first set. Ultimately Draper broke through and took the lead. In the second set Vilardo fought back and managed to force a tiebreak, however the top seed dominated the breaker to move into the semi-final 6-4, 7-6(2).

The semi-final saw the top seed against the sixth seed Tobias Simon. The German was staying with Draper, the match was on serve. Unfortunately for the German he was unable to carry on and pulled out of the match, handing the Brit a spot in the final 3-2 RET.

In the final Draper was against second seed Julian Ocleppo. The first set saw the Italian stay with the Brit until Draper broke serve, and took the lead. Ocleppo was unable to compete in the second set, which saw the top seed sail through and lift the title 6-4, 6-0.
