Tale of the Tape – Key Stats (2023)

H2H: Cameron Norrie (WR 12) Facundo Diaz Acosta (WR 191)
Tournament Previous Best QR2 (2019) R1 (2020, 2021)
1st Serve % 68.4 55.6

2nd Serve Return Points Won % 54.4 47.6
Break Points Converted % 41.9 37.8

Diaz Acosta is a good returner as expected from a clay court specialist but in this match he is up against the consistent and high-quality serve of Norrie.

Playing styles and prediction

Diaz Acosta would have been disappointed with his Australian Open qualifying campaign especially after a good opening win over Gijs Brouwer. However the 22 year-old responded well by reaching the semi-finals in the challenger event in Chile and will now look to use the golden swing to boost his ranking inside the world’s top 150.

Norrie will look to use a good mixture of depth and width to get the Argentinian as far behind the baseline as possible. Meanwhile the Argentinian will need to improve his serving numbers and use a good variety of shots to maintain a level of unpredictability to his game. This will be a good opening test for Norrie especially against a player who is familiar on this surface but the Brit should have too much quality for the Argentinian wildcard.

Prediction: Norrie in straight sets.
