BARCELONA, SPAIN – Cameron Norrie claimed his 200th win of his career with a straight sets win over Roberto Bautista Agut and will now face Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the Barcelona quarter-finals.
Cameron Norrie [12] def Roberto Bautista Agut [WC] 6-4 6-3
Cameron Norrie claimed the 200th win of his career with a straight sets win over Roberto Bautista Agut. A good start was produced by the Brit as he used a mixture of variety and depth to catch Bautista Agut off-guard as some powerful winners saw Norrie break for a 2-1 lead.
However the advantage didn’t last long as Norrie played a loose service game as Bautista Agut was dominant on return with the Spaniard breaking straight back for 2-2. That break back was the boost Bautista Agut needed as he looked secure from the baseline, finding his range on the forehand as he created incredible angles.
There was a good response from Norrie on serve though as the Brit’s accurate and precise serving neutralized any aggressive patterns of play from Bautista Agut. The 12th seed was just more consistent in the important moments as he broke for the second time in the set to take a 4-3 lead. This time Norrie held his nerve as some aggressive shot-making allowed him to resist the pressure from the Spaniard as the Brit would eventually close out the opening set in 44 minutes.
In the second set, Norrie continued to use the dropshot effectively as he forced Bautista Agut to overcommit to his shots. A perfect start was secured, despite being broken in the second game to love, as Norrie broke Bautista Agut’s serve in the opening two return games. There was no signs of nervousness from Norrie on serve as the Brit came to the net to finish points off efficiently as he continued to apply pressure on Bautista Agut.
That pressure paid off as a fifth break of serve in the match secured victory for Norrie and a landmark 200th win of his career.

Playing Styles and Prediction
Martin Etcheverry has had a consistent start to the year, picking up some good wins while playing some aggressive tennis. However the 24 year-old would like to go deep in tournaments as he bids for a seeding spot at Roland Garros next month.
Norrie will look to be consistent as he aims to find weaknesses in Martin Etcheverry’s game through the use of angles and drop shots. Meanwhile Martin Etcheverry will look to dictate play on serve as he aims to be aggressive on the forehand side. This will be a good test for Norrie’s consistency but the Brit should have too much quality for the Argentinian.
Prediction: Norrie in straight sets.
